Lucky11 betting sites welcome to the complete beginner's guide to how to play poker. Divided into sections, the guide will walk you through everything from an introduction to poker and gambling game types to poker hand rankings and general poker rules.

POKER HANDS RANKINGS

Before starting the poker playing guide, you need to know the 10 basic hand combinations and their classification. For instructions on how to do this, check out our complete guide to poker hand rankings. But here's a quick guide:

The lowest card is called the highest card and is generally used when neither player has any other melds.

The second lowest poker combination is called One Pair. They are two cards of the same number

or letter.

Next in line is the meld of Two Pairs, which are two different pairs of cards. Like 3, 3, 9, 9 etc.

Next comes a three of a kind, three cards with the same number or the same letter. Here the suits play no role in the combination.

Next up is the Straight which are 5 cards in sequential order. An Ace can be used both as A-2-3-4-5 (lowest straight) and 10-J-Q-K-A.

After the ladder comes the flush. The flush consists of 5 cards of the same suit. In any order.

Then we have a full house, a combination of three of a kind and a pair, all in one hand.

Four of a Kind is made up of 4 cards of the same number or letter.

Next comes the straight flush, which is a flush in sequential order.

Finally we have the royal flush, the best hand in poker. It's basically the same as a straight flush, but it starts from 10-A. Here's a fact: The odds of getting a royal flush are 649,739 to 1.

HOW TO PLAY POKER GETTING STARTED

In Texas Hold'em, each player receives two cards face down. These two cards are only for you and must be kept secret from other players. They are called hole cards and are only for you.

Once all the cards have been dealt, the two players seated clockwise from the dealer button (the player dealing) must post the small blind and big blind. This is also known as an ante. These blinds ensure that we always have chips on the table every round .The big blind is usually double the size of the small blind.

All players must reach at least big blind as advance to the next round. This is called matching. Players have the option to fold and raise. Folding means abandoning the current round and discarding both of your cards. When he raises, not only does he match the current bet, but it increases the price of a larger bet.

THE FLOP

After the first round of betting, three new cards are dealt to the table for all players to see. This is known as a flop. See image from EasyPoker.

The cards on the table are called community cards. These are for all players to match against the cards in their hand.

After the flop comes another round of betting, starting with the player sitting to the left of the dealer.

All players wishing to remain in the round must place the highest bet (as in the first round of betting).

Unlike in the opening round, players now also have the option to check, neither bet nor fold. This allows me to just go to the next round, but only if nobody places a bet. If one of the other players bets, you must fold, call or raise.

THE TURN

The dealer "burns" the top card of the deck (meaning it is removed and set aside) and then proceeds to deal another card face up on the table. This means that we now have four community cards on the table. Players then have another round of betting in the same format as last time.

THE FINAL CARD (RIVER)

The dealer burns another card from the deck and draws a fifth and final community card onto the table. After that we have a final round of betting before the players have to show thThe player with the highest 5 card combination wins and takes all of the chips wagered during the round (the pot). The role of the dealer changes clockwise, as does the role of the small blind and big blind before all the cards are shuffled and a new hand begins.
